About the Politics of Place

Like Chris Anderson’s The Long Tail, a blog that ultimately became a book and one of the most potent ideas of our time, I am launching this blog to explore, gather ideas and start a discussion. The Politics of Place is about these questions: How much does place matter? Do we care whether the local bookstore can survive? Will we pay more for uniqueness?

As founder and editor of Baristanet.com, I am a pioneer in a new form of media called placeblogging. I’m also the author of two comic novels, RATTLED (St. Martin’s 2006) and FEAR AND YOGA IN NEW JERSEY (St. Martin’s 2008). Read more about me at DebraGalant.com.
